Happy Birthday, Marsha!
Co-created with artist Precious, Happy Birthday, Marsha! is a free queer joy and resource cookout on Marsha P. Johnson’s birthday.
The event brings together gender-affirming clothing, food, wellness and housing resources, and performances by Black and brown queer creatives, a flagship SAS Project activation and blueprint for a future nationwide day of queer care.

Sunday, August 24, 2025 | 3 PM – 10 PM uCity Lawn, Philadelphia
Join us for a free community celebration uplifting trans joy, queer creativity, and collective liberation. This all-day event brings together food, fashion, music, and mutual aid to honor Marsha’s birthday with the spirit of community care she embodied.
What to Expect
Resource Fair – Local organizations, vendors, and artists sharing affirming services and goods.
Clothing Swap & On-Site Tailoring – Free gender-affirming clothing and alterations provided by SAS Project.
Live Performances, DJ Sets & Dance Party – Featuring Philly’s own DJ Delish, Precious, and more to be announced.
Community Cookout – Free food for attendees, supported by local partners.
Raffle & Prizes – Fun activities, best-dressed moments, and community giveaways.
Vendors & Sponsorship
Vendors: Vendor fee is $50. To reserve your space, vendors must submit payment and confirm by email. (See vendor FAQ page for full details.)
Sponsorship: Sponsorship tiers start at $100 (name listed) and $150 (logo featured on all event media). Sponsors help us provide food, stipends for performers, and free resources for the community.

SAS Project advances gender affirmation, environmental justice, and workers’ rights by redistributing clothing, offering skill-building workshops, and hosting affirming events. Happy Birthday, Marsha! celebrates Marsha’s legacy while building tangible resources and joyful space for our communities.
